CLARKSDALE, Mo. – Arley Mae Cordonier, 97, Clarksdale, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025. She was born Nov. 7, 1928 to Arley and Clara Mae (Violett) Townsend, in St. Joseph.

Arley married the love of her life, Guy Cordonier, and the two were united in marriage on Sept. 26, 1952, sharing a beautiful journey together until Guy’s passing on Feb. 8, 2019. Faith was a cornerstone of Arley’s life, and she was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Prior to that, she was a dedicated member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church.

She worked as a registered nurse, offering comfort and care tocountless individuals in their times of need. Officially extending her role as an educator, she transitioned into teaching at the Missouri Western State University.

Arley enjoyed the quiet concentration of puzzle books. In her younger days, she expressed her creativity through sewing. She had an enduring presence in her community, actively participating in 4-H and serving with distinction as the president of the community club.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; son, Edward Cordonier; and son-in-law, Jim Finlay.

Survivors include her children, Guy A. Cordonier (Nancy), Rebecca Miller, Arley C. Cordonier, and Mary Cordonier; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and daughter- in-law, CathyCordonier.

Services are pending. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Second Harvest Food Bank.
