Wonda Joyce Berry, 63, of St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025, in St. Joseph. She was born Nov. 30, 1961, in St. Joseph, daughter of the late, Charles and Shirley Berry.

She graduated from East Buchanan High School in 1980 and was playing softball from the time she could walk and was mentored by many, which propelled her into a full ride scholarship for college. Wonda then graduated from Missouri Western State College with her Bachelors Degree and Pittsburgh State University with her Master’s Degree. After college graduation, she stayed on as the Assistant Coach for Softball and Volleyball. She worked at Missouri Western State University as a Director of Intramural and Recreational Services for 34 years. Wonda was inducted into both the Softball and Volleyball Hall of Fame at Missouri Western. She was devoted 150% to MWSU, she was at every ball game doing the scoreboards and keeping track. Wonda spent many hours putting on and being involved with extracurricular’s all around the MWSU campus and community, because her students were always very special to her. She was the mother of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority and a member at Clarksdale Baptist Church.

Wonda was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Otto Warren Berry.

Survivors include her son, Jeremy (Rebekah) Howe, of St. Joseph; sister, Latisha “Tish” (Jesse) Montemayor, of Easton, Missouri; brother, Chuck Berry, of Cabool, Missouri; nephews, Charles “Sonny” Berry, and Kanyon (Trinity) Montemayor; niece, Kianna Montemayor; and a great-niece and nephew, Lydia and Woodson.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, with a Memorial service following at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, at First Baptist Church in St. Joseph. The Interment will take place at a later date.
