RAYMORE, Mo. – Ralph Mac Filley Jr., of Raymore, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Oct. 18, 2025, just ten days shy of his 81st birthday. Ralph lived a life centered on four constants: Faith, Family, Food, and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Known universally as Poppy, he was the beloved patriarch and North Star of his large, devoted family. His commitment was absolute, and he often declared himself profoundly blessed by the life he lived, supported by the unconditional love of his family and neighbors. Poppy was a man of integrity defined by a strong work ethic, dedicating decades to the produce business before retiring as a Produce Director for Cosentino’s Price Chopper in 2007.

Poppy’s passions brought joy to all around him: he was famous for his mac and cheese, loved sharing his hand-picked produce, and was a loyal Kansas City Chiefs season ticket holder for nearly 50 years. His most treasured tradition was his annual, magical transformation into Santa Claus every Christmas for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Sandy Nelson and Laura Hanne; his cherished grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Marvin Filley, Doris Darst, and Tina Tharp. He is now resting peacefully in God’s loving hands.

Services: Visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 26, at 1 p.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 2 p.m. at Poland-Thompson Chapel.. A reception will immediately follow at the Cameron Community Building.
