Baker, Charles 1953-2025 St. Joseph, Mo.

Charles Baker, 71, St. Joseph, passed away in the privacy of his home on Monday, Sept. 29, 2025. He was born Oct. 26, 1953, in St. Louis, Missouri, to James and Margaret (Schernick) Baker.

Charles married Sheryl Grinstead on May 1, 2002. She survives of the home.

He enjoyed fishing in his spare time. He formerly served in the Army and Navy. He retired from the City of St. Joseph Street Maintenance Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roger, James and Daniel Baker; and sister, Margaret “Sissy” Mastey.

He is survived by his wife, Sheryl; brother, Ronald (Vicki); biological children, Amy, David and Charles; three stepchildren, Stacy, Joshua (Kaylie) and Jessica (Jayson); numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Celebration of Life 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, Remington Nature Center. Cremation under the direction of Simplify Cremations & Funerals.
