Belcher, Billie R. 1951-2025 Kansas City, Mo.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Billie “Bill” Ray Belcher departed this life Saturday, Aug. 9, 2025. He was born, in St Joseph, Sept. 5, 1951.

Bill’s college degrees in Criminal Justice and Mortuary Science guided him to a career with Buchanan County, Missouri, Sheriffs Department for many years before becoming a dispatcher for Iowa State Highway Patrol, Des Moines, Iowa. He then changed gears and became a Funeral Director and Embalmer. He was an avid reader of many subjects. His passion was HAM Radio Call letters WN0F. He loved to talk to anyone who would listen.

Bill is proceeded in death of his father, Billie Ray Belcher, St Joseph; his sister, Pam Jones, Platte City Missouri; and his wife, Karen Jean Stanton. united in marriage Aug. 10, 1973.

He is survived by his son, Tim (Melinda) Belcher, Shawnee, Kansas; daughter, Lesley (Chuck) Stanway, Kansas City, Missouri; nephews, Danny Thornton, Chris (Kara) Thornton, Maryville, Missouri; Nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
