ATCHISON, Kan. – Mickey Steven Brown, 89, of Atchison, Kansas, passed away at Tiffany Springs Senior Living Community, Kansas City, Missouri. He was born in St. Joseph to John and Mabel (Chambers) Brown.

Mickey grew up in Elwood, Kansas, and later moved to St. Joseph. He graduated from the University of Kansas, where he earned a BA in Chemistry and an MA in Microbiology. He served in the U.S. Army as a Chemical Lab Specialist.

He spent his career as a research scientist in the north and west suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. After retiring, he moved to Atchison,. He served as president of the Tes Trams Club (a local organization for men in St. Joseph). He loved jazz, dancing, the sports of golf, baseball, football, basketball, and boxing.

He is survived by his wife, Goldie (Boldridge) of the home; son, Steven (Sheila) Brown, Montgomery, Illinois; granddaughters, Autumn Stancel, Yorkville, Illinois, and Ava Brown, Montgomery, Illinois; a brother, Ron (Rosemary) Brown, Chicago; sister, Glynn Darlene Schmedes, Pasadena, California; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother (John Tracy Brown).

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025, at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atchison, with Rev. Dr. Seante Ford officiating. Visitation with the family will be held one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Atchison, Kansas.
