Neidel, Albert 1927-2025 St. Joseph, Mo.

Albert “Bud” Neidel, 98, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, Aug. 3, 2025, at his home in St. Joseph. He was born July 26, 1927, in Maryville, Missouri, son of Mae Neidel. On Nov. 24, 1962, he married Nancy Greiner in Miami, Oklahoma.
Bud devoted over 30 years as a truck driver, retiring from the Teamsters Local 460 and worked with Consolidated Freightways. Bud started a family racing legacy, spending over 35 years racing himself and the family is now into its fourth generation of racing. He devoted many years of his life at the track and supporting those following his footsteps. If he wasn’t at the track, he also enjoyed playing cards and working outdoors.
Bud was preceded in death by his mother, Mae Neidel; his wife, Nancy Kay Neidel; children, Donnie and Ronnie Neidel, Nancy Younger, Ronda Smith; brothers, Charles, Harry and Glenn Neidel; sisters, Martha Rose Neidel, Ocie Weese and Peggy Miller.
Survivors include children, JR (Carla) Neidel and Linda Neidel, of St. Joseph; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren including his many bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and one great-great-grandson.
Bud has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025, at Rupp Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Friends of the Animal Shelter in St. Joseph or the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum in Memory of Bud Topper.
