Elliott, Catherine 1927-2025 Kansas City, Mo.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Catherine Elliott, 98, passed away July 25, 2025, at home surrounded by her family. She was born on Feb. 8, 1927, in Polo, Missouri, to Edgar and Audrey (Hightower) Zeikle.

She graduated from Polo High School in 1945. Catherine was a homemaker and one of the earliest female licensed insurance agents of her time, working for 30 years in Hamilton, St. Joseph, and Bethany, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Audrey Zeikle; husbands, James Elliott whom she was married to for 45 years, and Joseph O’Handlon whom she was married to for 17 years; daughter, Dianne Barnes; and great-grandson, Keegan Glenn.

Survivors: son, Danny (Sue) Elliott, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Kathy (Stan) Sims, Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren, Scott (Melinda) Pemberton, St. Joseph, Deana (John) Glenn, Parkville, Missouri, Clint (Laro) Sims, El Paso, Texas, Brian (Jessica) Sims, Kansas City, Missouri, Will Sims, Kansas City, Missouri, Heather (Nathan) Thoreson, Lee’s Summit; 15 great-grandchildren.

Services: noon Friday, Aug. 1, 2025, at Poland-Thompson Chapel, Cameron, Missouri. Visitation 10 a.m. to noon prior to the service. Burial in Prairie Ridge Cemetery, Polo, Missouri. Memorials may be given to Prairie Ridge Cemetery or Elmira Cemetery.
