Larry D Bottorff, 83, of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2025, in St. Joseph. He was born Sept. 23, 1941, in Maysville, Missouri, son of Gertrude M. and Pliny E. Bottorff.

He attended Union Star High School, and joined the Army in 1963 through 1969 and did a tour of duty in Vietnam in 1965. Larry was an over-the-road truck driver, working for Crouch Brothers, McLean, MNX, Nestle and retired from Ruan in 2007.

Larry was a member of the Teamsters, Eagles Lodge, Blue Lodge 376, Scottish Rite, Moila, American Legion 359 and attended Wesley United Methodist Church. He spent his retirement enjoying the St. Joe Mustangs baseball games with his wife and early morning coffee with his buddies.

Larry was the baby of the family. He was preceded in death by his parents; nine brothers; and one sister, Merwyn, Lloyd, Harold, Dale, Paul, Roy, Helen (Dewey) Glen, Bobbie and Jerry.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Carlene; and his two daughters, Deanna (Bill) Wright and Cathy (Les) Grimsinger; and his four favorite grandchildren, Peyton Wright, Jaden, Myles and Marin Grimsinger; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to either the St. Joseph Animal Shelter or Wesley United Methodist Church.

Funeral services for Larry will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, starting at 11 a.m. at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel with an Interment with full military honors to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held at our chapel on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
