Snead, James A. 1952-2025 St. Joseph, Mo.

James “Jim” Alvan Snead, 72, of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at his home. He was born Aug. 3, 1952, in St. Joseph, son of the late Nellie “Pauline” and George Snead.
He graduated from Benton High School, 1970, and Missouri Western State University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Management. He married Sherrie Colbert on Dec. 30, 1978, and she survives of the home.
He served in the United States Air Force. Jim worked for the State of Missouri as a Case Analyst. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching sports, especially the Kansas City Chiefs. Jim spent time volunteering at the Open Door Food Kitchen, in the nursery and serving as a deacon at First Baptist Church in St. Joseph. He was a member of the PTA when his children were in school.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Linda Nickols and Diane Kirwan.
Survivors include wife, Sherrie Snead, of the home; daughters, Rebecca (Henry) Nahwooksy, of Liberty, Missouri, and Rachel Snead, of Savannah, Missouri; a brother, Robert Snead, Albuquerque, New Mexico; a sister, Cheryl Snead, Independence, Missouri; and his faithful canine companion, Griff.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 11, at the Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services and public live stream 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at the Rupp Funeral Home. Pastor David Gouge officiating. The Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials are requested to the First Baptist Church – St. Joseph.
