Earl Edward “Buddie” Buhman, of St. Joseph, passed away June 9, 2025, at Cameron Veteran’s Home, surrounded by his family. He was born April 6, 1930, in DeKalb County, son of Oscar and Emma (Fisher) Buhman.

He graduated in 1948 from Clarksdale High School.

He proudly served in the Marines during the Korean War and was a veteran of the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir, with the final ranking of Staff Sergeant.

He married Bernetta Swartz on April 29, 1952, to this union seven children were born. He was a lifelong farmer raising crops and livestock.

Buddie was a devoted catholic with strong faith and was a member of the Seven Dolors and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

His favorite times were family gatherings, Bennett Spring fishing trips, playing cards, Lions Club meetings and bowling.

Survivors include their children, Earlene (Ronnie) Praiswater, Connie (Donnie) Whitsell, Bob (Michelle) Buhman, Bill Buhman, Barbara Swope, Dale (Carolyn) Buhman, Beverly (Russ) Shifflett; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren; brother, Jim (Carol) Buhman; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by hi wife, Bernetta, parents and siblings, Vincent Buhman, Johnnie Buhman, Verda McManus, Melvin Buhman, Father Leo Buhman, Kenneth Buhman, Harold Buhman, Gilbert Buhman, Ermit Buhman, Irmalee Schieber, Rita McQuinn.

Rosary will be at 5 p.m. followed by visitation until 8 p.m. Friday, June 13, at Heaton- Bowman-Smith Chapel, St. Joseph. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s (Hurlingen) Cemetery with Military Honors.
