McVicker, Larry M. 1950-2025 St. Joseph, Mo.

Larry Michael McVicker, 74, St. Joseph, passed Friday, May 23, 2025, into the hands of God. Born in St. Joseph on Nov. 17, 1950, he was the son of the late Raymond and Wanda McVicker.

Larry attended Humboldt Elementary School and Lafayette High School, where he participated in wrestling. Later he served in the Army.

His employment was with Farmland Industries, HK Quality Sheet Metal and Pete’s Batteries.

Larry formerly attended Savannah Avenue Baptist Church and participated in the baseball team at Third Street Presbyterian Church.

He was a sports fan, especially the Kansas City Chiefs and Yankees; a movie buff and into rock and roll with the Stones being king.

Survivors: sister, Alice McVicker, St. Joseph, a former reporter with the St. Joseph News-Press; friends, including Michael Paradise, Larry Stafford and Mike Korte; and cousins.

Celebration of Life 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Wyatt Park Baptist Church, St. Joseph. Inurnment Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, at a later date. Visitation: one hour prior to the service.
