WICHITA, Kan. – Charles W. “Chuck” Hill, 82, founder of Heartland Motor Coach, went home peacefully to be with his heavenly father on May 15, 2025.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Feb. 22, 1943, Chuck settled in Maryville, Missouri, where he met his wife, Connie Long, at Northwest Missouri State University while completing his B.S. in Political Science. He started a career in the tire industry working in sales for both Armstrong and Pirelli Tires and opening Hill’s Tire Center in 1976. In 1986, Chuck began Heartland Motor Coach out of his basement in Maryville. He moved the company to St. Joseph where he eventually sold it and retired in 2014. Soon after, he and Connie moved to Wichita to be closer to family.

Chuck leaves behind his wife, Connie; children, Angela (Danny) Bushey and Brian Hill; grandson, Matthew Butterworth; brother, Doug (Pamela) Hill; and sister-in-law, Carol (Gary) Shaw; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Chuck is preceded in death by his father, W.C. Hill, and his mother, Dorothy L. Crosby Hill.

Visitation will be held at Cozine Life Events Center Monday, May 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a graveside service to be held at the Grant City Cemetery on Wednesday, May 21, at 2 p.m. in Grant City, Missouri.

The family wishes to express their deepest thanks to Regent Park Rehabilitation and Healthcare and Harry Hynes Hospice for their loving kindness, care, and support for Chuck.
