Haynes, Larry 1945-2025 St. Joseph, Mo.

Larry “Butch” Haynes, 80, St. Joseph, passed away Monday, May 19, 2025. He was born May 10, 1945, to Lloyd and Catherine (Walsh) Haynes, in St. Joseph.

Butch married Janice L. Davis on Aug. 30, 1963. He dedicated many years as a respected conductor for Union Pacific Railroad.

Butch’s passion for the outdoors was evident through his love of hunting and fishing. His support for the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals showcased his deep-rooted spirit as a sports enthusiast.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lonnie Haynes.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Tara Stroud (Buddy) and Catherine “Katie” Vanderlinden (Rob); grandsons, Justin, Shawn, Kyle, and Eric; four great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Lexie.

Graveside Farewell Services and Interment 11 a.m. Saturday, Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service. The procession will leave from Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
