Prejean, Linda S. 1949-2025 DeKalb, Mo.

DEKALB, Mo. – Linda Sue (Eastbourn) Prejean, 76, of De Kalb, Missouri, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2025, in a St Joseph hospital. She was born March 25, 1949, in DeKalb, daughter of the late Mary (Frakes) and Nelson Eastbourn.

She graduated from DeKalb High School and was the Salutorian and then the University of Kentucky with a bachelor of science in education. She worked as the Church Financial Secretary for the DeKalb Christian Church, as well as numerous other administrative jobs throughout her career.

Linda was an avid sports fan, especially the Kansas City Chiefs, Royals, and the University of Kentucky basketball teams. She loved her pets, traveling to the mountains in Colorado, she also enjoyed knitting, and cooking. Linda had a strong devotion to her faith, and was a proud member of the DeKalb Christian church and community.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include daughter, Kaelyn (Michael) Smith, of Aurora, Coloraod; son, Gavin (Stephanie) Prejean, of Aurora; four grandsons, Tyler (Miranda), Kyle, Tanner, and Chance Smith; three granddaughters, Genevieve, Taylor, and Reagan Prejean; and her brother, Gerald (Cindy) Eastbourn, of DeKalb.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services: 10 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2025, at the DeKalb Christian Church, Pastor David Jordan officiating. The Interment will be at the Westlawn Cemetery, DeKalb. Memorials are requested to the DeKalb Christian Church.
