Geneva Dee Herbert O’Callaghan, 74, St Joseph, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024. Geneva (known as “Gee Dee” to family) was born on Feb. 15, 1950, one of 10 children to parents, Naomi “Dee” Herbert and Lester F. “Red” Herbert.

She graduated from Benton High School in 1968. She worked many years for Crane Construction, and upon leaving there began a new career at Kristen’s Coin and Jewelry, working for her best friend’s (the late Marsha Rostock) daughter. Geneva was an animal lover, especially cats! She will be sadly missed by her beloved cats, Woody, Whiskey, Bogey and Petey.

Preceded in death by brothers, David, Richard, Dan, George; and sisters, Twila Seek and Bernie Gallagher.

She is survived by son, Rob O’Callaghan (Kristen), their children and grandchildren; brothers, Ed Herbert, Terry Herbert (Brenda); and sister, Susie Jordan; other extended family members, including her special niece and caregiver, Lori Seek Triggs.

Cremation under the direction of Simplify Cremations & Funerals. Per Geneva’s request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Friends of the Animal Shelter of St. Joseph.
