Robert “Bob” Melton, 82, of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024, in Plattsburg, Missouri. He was born April 13, 1942, in Duenweg, Missouri, son of Pearl and James Melton. He retired from the State of Missouri as a psychiatric aid.

Bob’s passion was country music and he was a member of the Country Music Association. He loved performing, playing guitar, and singing in local country bands. Bob’s sense of humor was exceptional and his jokes and antics will be missed.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bonnie “June” Melton; son, Jeffrey Melton; brothers, James “Cliff” Melton and Darrell Melton; and sister, Sylvia Matson.

Survivors include daughter, Cheryl (Rodney) Carpenter, of St. Joseph; grandsons, Jacob and Jonathan Carpenter, Jason Skeen and Christopher Melton; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services and public live stream 2 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2024, at Rupp Funeral Home, Pastor Larry Gray officiating. The Interment will be at King Hill Cemetery.
