Mary C. Searcy, 86, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024, at a local health care facility. She was born Oct. 26, 1937, in St. Joseph, daughter of Wava and Andrew Biller. She attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart. She married Gerald Searcy on Jan. 11, 1954. Mary worked at Quaker Oats retiring after 27 years. She was a wonderful grandmother, who loved spending time with her grandchildren and she also enjoyed going to the casino.
Mary was preceded in death by husband, Gerald Searcy; her parents; brother, Fr. Andy Biller Jr.; sister, Ruth Athay; brothers-in-law, Glen Searcy, Ernie Cooper and Chuck Athay; and grandson, Joshua Searcy.
Survivors include children, Barbara Hazelwood, Gerald “Jerry” (Lori) Searcy Jr., Monte (Diane) Searcy, Ginger Jackson, all of St. Joseph; sisters, Alberta Cooper, of Branson, Missouri, and Rita Ward, of St. Joseph; sister-in-law, Nadine Searcy, of St. Joseph; her grandchildren, Shannon, Melissa, Wyatt, Noah, Heather, Lauren, Kallie, Chelsey and Chad; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Rupp Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Barnett officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Rupp Funeral Home. Ms. Searcy will be cremated following services with Inurnment at a later date at the Ebenezer Cemetery.
