Larry Dale Watkins, 67, of St Joseph, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2024, at a local health care facility. He was born April 5, 1957, in St. Joseph, son of Eva and Dale Watkins. He graduated from Lafayette High School, class of 1975.

Larry worked as a truck driver and later worked as a Corrections Officer for Missouri Department of Corrections and also Triumph Foods. Larry loved his children and spending time with them. He had a great love for music and enjoyed promoting music events. He also spent time working with Missouri Democrats.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ramona Watkins-Goodale; and niece, Ryan Michelle Newey.

Survivors include children, Johnathan (Lindsey) Glissmeyer, of Eugene, Oregon, Cole Watkins, St. Joseph, Reese Williams, of Kansas City, Missouri and Tayo Williams; brother, Richard (Katrina) Watkins; sister, Lori Colborn, St. Joseph; grandson, Foster Williams; nephews, Brent Newey. of Houston, Texas; Trevor Watkins, St. Joseph, and Robert Alspaugh, of Salt Lake City, Utah; nieces, Ashley (Caleb) Newey-Deer of Nevada, Texas and Alexis (Kevin) Wisniewski, of Kansas City; great-nephews and great-nieces, Sloane, Axel and Rylee Deer, Beylon, Hattie and Gideon Wisniewski; cousins, Kelli Gardner, Moriah Howard, Jordan Davis, Camille (Josh) Howard, Julianna Howard and dear friend, Victor Chance.

Mr. Watkins has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 21, 2024. at Rupp Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 6 pm Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Eagles Lodge.
