Man involved in Sunday shooting dead, police investigating homicide

Officials with the St. Joseph Police Department confirmed a 36-year-old man from St. Joseph was killed in a shooting near Midtown Sunday.

The St. Joseph Police Department responded to a shots fired call at North 20th and Jules at about 12:08 p.m. and found a vehicle with a bullet hole and the victim inside with a single gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital and later died.

The victim’s name has not been released, and according to police Captain Jeff Wilson, the incident is being investigated as a targeted homicide.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police department.

No suspect is in custody at this time.
