Dec. 29—One man was killed and another seriously injured in a wreck just after midnight Sunday in the Delano neighborhood.
The identity of the man who died, who is from Wichita, was not released.
Wichita police responded to a collision call at 12:21 a.m. in the 200 block of North Charles. They found a sedan that had crashed into a tree, a fence and then caught fire after the engine separated from the chassis, Wichita police spokesperson Juan Rebolledo said in an email.
The two unidentified men, both 32, were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Both were taken to a hospital, where the passenger died from his injuries. The driver was treated for serious injuries, Rebolledo said.
“A preliminary investigation indicates that alcohol and drugs are suspected to be contributing factors in the crash,” Rebolledo said.
The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to call detectives at 316-350-3685 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
