ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- InterServ is partnering with the YWCA to host a simulation to open participants' eyes to the everyday challenges domestic violence survivors face.

"In Her Shoes" will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at InterServ 228 Youth, located at 228 Cherokee St.

The event is more than just a simulation; it's an eye-opening experience that invites participants to walk through the life of a domestic violence survivor.

Participants will be faced with the same impossible choices survivors must make every day. Those Choices encapsulate safety, children, finances and survival.

Each step reveals how overwhelming, complicated and heartbreaking it can be to leave an abusive situation.

The experience aims to open hearts and minds, helping the community understand the strength and barriers that stand in the way of freedom.
