Moore, Denzil L. 1942-2026 St. Joseph, Mo.

Denzil Leon Moore, 83, of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, in a St. Joseph hospital. He was born Jan. 24, 1942, in Roy, Missouri, son of the late Ruth and Ova Moore.
He graduated from Benton High School and attended the St. Joseph Junior college. He married Virginia Farrar on Aug. 26, 1961, and she survives of the home.
Denzil retired from Seitz Foods, and also worked at the St. Joseph Stockyards, and the St. Joseph News- Press as a paper boy in his younger years. He enjoyed playing pitch, gardening, fishing, bowling, hunting, watching all sports, coaching little league baseball, he was an avid Chiefs fan, but most especially he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of Eagles Lodge and attended St. Francis Xavier with his wife Virginia.
Denzil was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis Lee Moore; daughter-in-law, Danette Moore; and brother-in-law, Curtis Malotte.
Survivors include wife, Virginia “Ginny”, of the home; four sons: Douglas (Carrie) Moore, St. Joseph, Dwayne (Debbie) Moore, Battlefield, Missouri, Thomas Moore, of St. Joseph, Timothy Moore, of Gower, Missouri; and daughter, Pamela (Don) Bryan, Turney, Missouri; 15 grandchildren, Natalie, Nina, Cameron, Kasey, Maddy, Mathew, Trevor, Tyler, Eric, Tillie, Molly, Dennis, Brandon, Owen, and Eli; seven great-grandchildren with one on the way; and two sisters, Linda Malotte and Wanda (Tom) Dulcan, both of St. Joseph.
The family will receive friends from 6 to p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026, at the Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services and public live stream 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, at the Rupp Funeral Home, Pastor Josh Embrey officiating. The Interment will be at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are requested to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
