Downtown apartment fire claims life of St. Joseph man

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- One person died in a Downtown apartment fire at Wesley Senior Towers Monday night, according to the St. Joseph Fire Department.

Upon arrival, firefighters located the apartment with the active alarm, where smoke and heat were confined to the unit.

Crews located an adult male inside the apartment and removed him from the residence. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The fire was quickly contained and did not spread to other units.

SJFD said the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
