ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV)-- As the year comes to a close, Americans are reflecting on their routines and looking ahead to healthier habits for 2026.

Alex Thompson, a fitness advisor at Genesis Health Club, said they see individuals year-round who want to improve their health and overall quality of life.

“When people join our facility, they don’t wanna leave and part of the New Year’s resolution is just having those people’s backs and thinking we can hold their hands through that process,” Thompson said.

Thompson also said most members come in with goals like losing weight or adopting a healthier lifestyle so they can be more active and effective with their families.

To help members succeed, Thompson said Genesis Health Club emphasizes on community support and professional guidance.

“Where we get them face-to-face with some of the best trainers in town. Basically its gonna be a sit-down. They are going to talk to them about some diet programming, workout programming, what worked for them in the past and what we think will work for them in the future,” Thompson added.

The facility also offers 56 group fitness classes each week at no extra cost, including aquatics, cycling, dance grooves, Zumba, chair yoga, boot camps, meditation and traditional yoga classes.

Thompson said his goal as an instructor is to help members leave feeling confident, supported and prepared to maintain their progress.

“Making people feel important, we have an incredible community over here and giving professional assistance for people that are walking through our facilities,” Thompson said.

Whether it’s exercising, playing a sport, or eating healthier, he believes every goal is both achievable and sustainable with the right support.
