Wind gusts knock out power for some St. Joseph residents

2:24 p.m. UPDATE: Power has largely been restored with less than 30 customers now impacted by outages in St. Joseph.
2 p.m. UPDATE: Approximately 756 customers in St. Joseph are now without power.
1:30 p.m. UPDATE: Roughly 2,276 customers in St. Joseph are without power.
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) -- Crews are currently working to restore power for hundreds of residents impacted by power outages Thursday afternoon, likely due to strong wind gusts.
At one point, roughly 2,700 customers in the St. Joseph area were without power according to an outage map from Evergy. Four outages knocked out power for approximately 2,278 customers for a short time, including large areas near Downtown, Frederick Avenue and U.S. 36 Highway.
A wind advisory remains in effect until 9 p.m. Thursday for St. Joseph and portions of east central and northeast Kansas and north, central, northwest and west central Missouri, bringing wind gusts up to 50 mph.
