HS Playoff Recap: St. Joe Christian, Mid-Buchanan claim district championships

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) -- Northwest Missouri will be well represented in the state tournament next week with teams like St. Joseph Christian and Mid-Buchanan both winning district championships Friday.

The Lions went into hostile territory and defeated city rival Bishop LeBlond for their first district championship since 2011.

Elsewhere, the Mid-Buchanan Dragons continued their undefeated season by defeating Cameron to win back-to-back district championships.

In the battle of the Platte's, West Platte took down North Platte in another rivalry matchup for the Class 1 District 6 Championship, capping off an impressive run through the district tournament.

Going up against an undefeated powerhouse in Kearney, the Savannah Savages faced an uphill climb for most of their contest, falling 24-0.
