Tracking a gloomy and rainy weekend
Good morning, St. Joseph, and happy Friday! We’re waking up to a warmer start than the last few mornings. Through the morning hours, cloud cover will increase as showers and moisture move in from the south.
Today’s high will be about 10 degrees below average, topping out near 56 degrees. Expect a cool, gray, and gloomy day with rain chances around 60% through the late morning and early evening — bringing some much-needed rainfall to the area.
There will be some dry time, especially early this afternoon, but rainfall will be scattered and uneven, meaning some areas may pick up more than others.
Rain chances continue into Saturday, keeping things gloomy and damp with highs in the 60s. These spotty showers will stick around through the rest of the weekend and into early next week. Temperatures through Tuesday will stay in the upper 50s to low 60s, with dense cloud cover continuing.
By the end of next week, conditions will dry out and the sunshine will make a return, though temperatures are expected to stay about the same.
Over the next few days, rainfall totals are expected to range from a quarter to a half inch across northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas — not enough to bring significant relief to ongoing drought conditions.
