A "No Kings" rally held on July 4, 2025 in St. Joseph was the first of its kind since President Trump took office.

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) -- The Persisterhood of St. Joseph is officially partnered with the "No Kings" movement and aims to coordinate peaceful protests in Northwest Missouri in conjunction with similar protests nationwide.

A protest will take place from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, at the intersection of North Belt Highway and Frederick Avenue.

Oct. 18 will be the seventh peaceful rally day in Northwest Missouri that Persisterhood has organized. Over 2,400 rallies have been scheduled across the country.

Northwest Missouri Rally goers will have an opportunity to sign the petition sponsored by “Respect MO Voters” to allow voters to vote in the November 2026 election on a constitutional amendment that, if successful, would keep the state’s legislative bodies from overriding state-wide majority votes.

They will also be able to sign “People Not Politicians” petitions that would require a statewide majority vote approval before Missouri’s MAGA Congressional gerrymandered redistricting map would take effect.

The Oct. 18 "No Kings Day of Action" is a coordinated effort across the country, building on the coalition’s previous day of action on June 14 that brought together more than 11 million people across 50 states in the largest single-day protest yet against the Trump Administration.

Persisterhood - St. Joseph joins other groups organizing the "No Kings" peaceful protests across the country, including ACLU, American Federation of Teachers, Common Defense, 50501, Human Rights Campaign, Indivisible, League of Conservation Voters, MoveOn, National Nurses United, Public Citizen, SEIU, among others.

A full list of partners can be seen at https://www.nokings.org/partners. For a full list of participating cities and event details, visit www.NoKings.org.

All "No Kings" events adhere to a shared commitment to nonviolent protest and community safety. Organizers are trained in de-escalation and are working closely with local partners to ensure peaceful and powerful actions nationwide.
