Tracking the last blast of heat

It has been another hot and toasty day across the St. Joseph region. Highs climbed into the mid-90s this afternoon, with heat index values once again soaring into the triple digits. A heat advisory remains in effect until 7 PM this evening due to the intense heat.

If you have evening plans around town, be sure to stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade or air conditioning whenever possible.

Looking ahead, Sunday and Monday will be the final stretch of extreme heat, with heat index values still expected to reach the triple digits. It’ll be a great weekend to hit the pool and soak in the summer sun before school is back in session.

By Monday, rain chances begin to return, but they remain low—around 20 percent. The higher chance for showers arrives Tuesday, which could unfortunately impact the first day of school or the morning bus stop forecast for some.

Temperatures will gradually cool through the week. By Wednesday, highs return to the low 80s, bringing much more comfortable and seasonable conditions. The rest of the week looks dry and pleasant, continuing into next weekend.
