Closing Time: Chiefs bid farewell to second home after month long training camp

ST JOSEPH, Mo (News-Press NOW) -- From July 22 to August 13, the Chiefs called St Joseph home, and after seventeen practices, the Chiefs concluded their 2025 Training Camp.
It was a walkthrough day for the Chiefs as they prepare for their second preseason game in Seattle to face the Seattle Seahawks on Friday Aug. 15 at 9 p.m. EST.
Head Coach Andy Reid said he is appreciative of St Joseph and the staff that helped them throughout the month long training camp.
"First of all, the people up here have been phenomenal. They house us, they feed us, they baby us. We appreciate that."
Reid also touched on the mentality the players had coming into training camp.
"The guys came out with a purpose," Reid said. "They handled it the right way and worked their tail off."
The reoccurring theme during training camp was improvement. From day one to day seventeen, every player focused on improving their game to the next level.
Chiefs starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes, took notice to how hard the guys worked every day.
"You know how hungry these guys are," Mahomes said. "It started in OTAs. The guys are ready to compete and ready to get out there and prove who we are."
With training camp coming to an end, players and coaches showed off their fun side during media throughout camp. We compiled some of the best moments and quotes from players and coached during camp.
When talking about Travis Kelce's recent GQ photoshoot, Patrick Mahomes was asked about the shoot and if he would ever do a photoshoot like that with snakes and alligators.
"I would never do that. The everglades is not my place," Mahomes said. "I'm from Texas, there are not many alligators where I'm from. If there's an alligator you shut down the town."
And when Juju Smith-Schuster was asked about Jalen Royals, he had this to say about the fourth round rookie.
"I don't know if you guys know this, but when he's out there he's aura farming."
Then safety Mike Edwards snuck in a reference to another athlete, from another sport in his press conference. When asked about a former coach, he said "how does that affect Lebron's legacy?" Then burst into laughter.
The players on the Chiefs are fun people just like everyone else, and their press conferences show it.
Although camp is now over, the Chiefs will be back in St Joseph at MoWest for their 2026 training camp come next year.
