20 Who Count: Ron Auxier

By Jenna Wilson
If you don’t recognize Ron Auxier by his name, you certainly may have seen his composition around the city of St. Joseph.
A retired architect, Auxier spends his time delivering mobile meals through InterServ and currently sits on the InterServ Board of Directors.
Over the course of a successful career, Auxier carried out projects for Interserv and numerous buildings across town, including the state office building, the YMCA building and the St. Joseph News-Press in Downtown, St. Joseph.
“It’s a pleasure to get to be in your hometown and start working with clients that you’ve known all your life, from school, church, business or wherever, and that grew into the opportunity to work for many clients that are outside the central area,” said Auxier. “Maybe that’s why I enjoy serving on boards, just because I was on the other side of that process. So now I work in multiple boards in Saint Joe because I enjoy that creativity of what an idea needs to be developed.”
Auxier also volunteers with the Pony Express Museum, helping lead programs on the history of St. Joseph’s architecture and carving pumpkins for Pumpkinfest’s pumpkin mountain – all while being an active churchman.
“I’ll be 77 in January and I feel like I’ve been very blessed to have the opportunities I’ve had,” Auxier said. “Some people will never get to experience these kinds of situations.”
