It’s a playbook familiar for Black Americans when local police officers shoot and kill a community member or a loved one. But now in the wake of the shootings deaths of white protesters Alex Pretti and Renee Good by federal officers in Minneapolis, some Americans are newly outraged at how federal officials followed a similar playbook about the shootings and about the desceased, despite bystander video, witnesses and family statements contradicting their narrative. Racial justice activists, police reform advocates and Black families who have experienced loss after police violence say its a critique they have long had of law enforcement.
