Federal Enforcement-Minneapolis-Somali Community
President Trump’s contempt shocks the country’s largest Somali community
SUMMARY: Even for a president who has long made clear he’s no fan of Somalia, the latest round of contempt from Donald Trump was a shock in the country’s largest Somali community in Minnesota. “They contribute nothing. I don’t want them in our country,” the president told reporters Tuesday. Hamse Warfa, a Somali-born U.S. citizen from the the Minneapolis area who has founded a series of successful businesses, sees things differently. “Words matter a lot — especially when it’s the president of the United States who is talking,” said Warfa, who runs a nationwide education nonprofit, World Savvy. Trump’s comments came days after his administration announced it was halting all asylum decisions following the shooting of two National Guard soldiers in Washington.

Tariffs catch up to resurgent Build-A-Bear, overshadowing financial performance
SUMMARY: A strong quarter at Build-A-Bear Workshop in a bounce back year for the retailer was overshadowed by the growing weight of tariffs in an ongoing trade war waged by President Donald Trump. The mall staple was able to get ahead of tariff impacts during the first half of the year through preemptive actions, Chief Financial Officer Voin Todorovic said in a statement Thursday, but the levies caught up to the company in its most recent quarter and will continue to weigh on its performance into 2026. Trump acknowledged in April that tariffs could result in fewer and costlier products in U.S., saying American kids might “have two dolls instead of 30 dolls.” Build-A-Bear shares tumbled 13% Thursday.
