Vikings receiver
Jordan Addison
arrested in California
on suspicion of DUI
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison has been arrested in California on suspicion of driving under the influence. This is the second straight year he has found trouble behind the wheel right before the beginning of training camp.
The Vikings said they’re gathering more information but had no further comment. The California Highway Patrol reported that an officer found Addison asleep in the driver’s seat of his white Rolls-Royce that was blocking a lane on a highway near Los Angeles International Airport. He was arrested after a DUI investigation. Addison was arrested in Minnesota last year for excessive speeding.
World swimming body promises more anti-doping tests of
Chinese team before Paris Olympics
GENEVA | Swimming’s governing body says Chinese athletes going to the Paris Olympics are undergoing increased drug testing of at least eight times this year before the Games open next week. The Chinese swim team in Paris is set to have 11 athletes who tested positive for a banned heart medication in 2021 yet avoided being suspended before the Tokyo Olympics.
A Chinese state-backed investigation in June 2021 blamed mass contamination by food in a hotel kitchen. World Aquatics has now followed the World Anti-Doping Agency in publishing reports they commissioned that exonerated them of mishandling the case three years ago.
Manager Southgate’s future still
uncertain after
England return home from Euro 2024 final
Gareth Southgate’s future as manager remains uncertain after England returned home from the European Championship. Southgate’s contract expires this year and he has not said if he will lead the team into the next World Cup in 2026.
The English Football Association is reportedly keen to tie him to a new contract. England lost to Spain 2-1 in the final of Euro 2024, extending its wait for a major trophy to at least 60 years after winning the 1966 World Cup in 1966. Southgate has transformed England’s fortunes since he was hired in 2016.
