Schmitzer, Randy D. 1953-2025 Hendersonville, Tenn.

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. – Randy Dale Schmitzer, age 72, died on Sunday, July 27, 2025, in Hendersonville, Tennessee.. He was born on June 10, 1953, in Liberal, Kansas, to Fred and Carol (Clark) Schmitzer.

Randy graduated from Liberal High School and for 37 years he devoted himself to the role of Refrigeration Technician at Kroger. Randy ensured that everything was running smoothly for his customers and coworkers alike.

On Sept. 30, 1991, he was united in marriage to Deborah J. Davidson, in Grand Junction, Colorado. Randy was a member of Believer’s Ministry Church. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Thomas Schmitzer, and his wife, Ashley, of Nashville, Tennessee; stepson, Julian Holt and his wife, Shannon of Kingsport, Tennessee; daughter, Heather McMillin and her husband Justin, of Springfield, Missouri; stepdaughter, Angela Whitley and her husband Brian, of Kingsport, Tennessee; 10 grandchildren, Cole Parker, Abigail McMillin, Daniel Chavez, Claire Schmitzer, Sarah Schmitzer, Nate Whitley, AnnaKate Whitley, Aspen Holt, Ashland Holt, Cooper Holt, and Silas Holt; one great-granddaughter, Adelyn Holt; brother, Mark Schmitzer.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Deborah J. Schmitzer; brother, Rodney Schmitzer; and sister, Jennifer Squire.

Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2025, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.

Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 4, 2025, at Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor David Harris will be officiating. A burial will follow at the Liberal Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Parkinson’s Foundation in care of Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.
