Aging Well: Winner for July enjoys second career helping others

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) -- The Aging Well Award for July, presented by Freudenthal Home Based Healthcare and News-Press NOW, goes to George Szczepanik.

After a long career in sales in the medical field, Szczepanik, now age 75, has spent nearly a decade as a funeral director at Heaton-Bowman Funeral Home in St. Joseph, after going back to school for his certification.

He said this new position has been "personally satisfying" for him, and helping others through difficult times of transition gives him a sense of purpose and fulfillment.
