It’s Your Call for July 24

Here's the cure

I can tell from reading It’s Your Call that there are a lot of people in St. Joseph with Trump Derangement Syndrome. You know, that can be cured if you watch FOX News every now and then and quit listening to the national news media and do a little thinking on your own.

Completely agree

I completely agree with Keith Evans’ letter to the editor, "No way to run a democracy,” that was published in the Weekender on July 20. This is no way to run a democracy, and our representatives should be taken to task for voting for the so-called Big Beautiful Bill. It's certainly fiscally irresponsible to add $3.4 trillion to the deficit, and trading tax cuts for the rich for Medicaid cuts to the poor is truly, morally reprehensible. And even worse is Hawley’s latest hypocrisy on now wanting to submit a bill to protect Medicaid and reduce those cuts. That's a hoax, of course. That bill will never pass, and he knows it.

A few more examples

It's me again: the grammar freak. Here are examples from Wednesday’s It's Your Call. “Suburbs isn't building new hotels.” Another one, “There is not enough housing places.” “The list are terrible.” Should I give up?

Help the senior citizens

I'm calling in regard to the call-in in today's paper, “Please help us.” I agree 1000% with that person. There needs to be more affordable housing for senior citizens of St. Joseph, Missouri. It's nice to build hotels for visitors, but let's take care of the senior citizens that have lived in St. Joe for most of their life, or will continue to live in St. Joseph during their senior years. They need affordable housing. Hotels are fine, but let's take care of our seniors citizens every day, just not for a few days out of the month or the year. Please, let's get some help for the senior citizens of St. Joseph.
