Jones, Marget 1942-2025 St. Joseph, Mo.

Marget “Janet” Jones, 83, of St. Joseph, passed away Monday, July 7, 2025, at her home. She was born March 26, 1942, in Dowes, Iowa, daughter of Alma and George Clark.

She graduated from Central High School and attended Hillyard Technical School, earning a Nursing Certificate. Janet worked as a LPN at the Gower Convalescent Center and retired from the State Hospital, in St. Joseph. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and was a fantastic cook. In 1976, Janet was instrumental to the starting the Easton Fair, serving as the Head Coordinator for several years.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, Charles J. Hughes Jr.; and late husband, Lee Charles Jones; daughter, Lynne Hughes; sister, Juliet Iams; and brother, George Clark Jr.

Survivors include her sons, Mitch (Gloria) Hughes, of Springfield, Missouri, Mike Hughes, of St. Joseph, Chuck (Christi) Hughes, of St. Joseph, Rob (Lisa) Hughes, of Kansas City, Missouri; half-brother, David Adams; numerous grandchildren, including Kali (Tyler) Mathews and two grandsons of the home, Javian and Bryson Hughes; numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.

Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Rupp Funeral Home, with Interment following at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Pastor Dave Mejia officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday at Rupp Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to Mosaic Life Care-Hospice.
