Antoinette was born in Omaha, Nebraska. Garry was born in St Joseph. Garry is the son of Doris Young, Andrew Milbourn, David Milbourn and Sarah Milbourn. Antoinette is the daughter of Marie (McIntosh) Gruhn and Clifton L. Gruhn.

The couple have resided in Council Bluffs, Iowa, for 43 years.
