Tracking a hot and humid week with t-storm chances Tuesday

Temperatures this afternoon climbed into the mid to upper 80s, making for a warm and humid Sunday across the region. These toasty conditions will persist as we begin the workweek on Monday. Expect highs to rise into the low 90s, with the characteristic Missouri humidity sticking around. Monday will remain dry, with mostly sunny skies and occasional breaks of sunshine throughout the day.

Tuesday marks a shift to more active weather. We are currently under a Level 2 — Slight Risk — for severe weather due to the potential for strong thunderstorms. Two rounds of rain are expected: the first in the morning and a second, potentially stronger round in the evening. The main threats with this system include heavy rainfall, large hail, and damaging winds.

Rain may linger into early Wednesday morning, but conditions should gradually improve as skies begin to clear. Behind the cold front, temperatures will cool down, with highs returning to the low 80s.

Looking ahead, warmer air quickly builds back in for the latter half of the week, with temperatures climbing into the low to mid-90s by the weekend. Dry and sunny conditions are expected to dominate, just in time for the official start of summer on Friday.
