Golden, Charley 1928-2025 Gower, Mo.

GOWER, Mo. – Charley Golden, 97, of Elwood, Kansas, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025, at the Gower Convalescent Center in Gower, Missouri. Charley was born on Feb. 26, 1928, in Mill Grove, Missouri, to Bertie and Edna (Mantlo) Golden.

He was a member of Elwood Baptist Church and worked as a tractor mechanic for International Harvester. Charley was a loyal and hard working man of God. His faith was very important to him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant.

Charley married Vivian Axtell on Oct. 6, 1956, in Milan, Missouri. She preceded him in death on May 31, 2021. He was also preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Frena Prince and Kathleen Singleton; and a granddaughter, Sara Mathews.

Survivors, daughters, Janet Neidel, St. Joseph, Joyce Schuster (Steven), Gower, Julie Mathews, St. Joseph, Janis Barnthson, Topeka, Kansas, Janel Shultz (Bob), Elwood, Kansas; grandchildren, Aaron Neidel, Christian Schuster, Bobby Shultz, Eliot and Jory Barnthson; nieces; nephews; and cousins.

Charley’s wishes were to be cremated with no scheduled services. Memorials: Samaritans Purse. Harman-Rohde Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
