Cameron stellar in Royals debut

Tampa, Fla. (News-Press NOW) -- St. Joseph native Noah Cameron made the most of his first start as a Kansas City Royal, earning a win in his Major League Baseball debut for his hometown team.
The former Central Indian spent just over three years developing in the Minor Leagues, and showed it was the right time for the Royals to call him up for his first start in Tampa Bay on Wednesday night. Cameron pitched a no-hitter through the first six innings and struck out three batters before giving up his first hit in the bottom of the seventh inning in the 3-0 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.
Cameron would give up zero earned runs to Tampa Bay and throw 46 strikes on 79 total pitches in Wednesday night’s victory. Following his superb performance, the left-hander Cameron joins the company of players such as Shota Imanaga as pitchers to allow zero earned runs in their Major League Baseball debut. Imanaga also pitched six scoreless innings and struck out nine batters in his MLB debut in 2024.
A 2021 seventh-round pick of the Royals in 2021, the former Central Arkansas pitcher had spent 2022 through 2024 in the minor leagues including his first five professional games of 2025 with the Omaha Storm Chasers, the AAA affiliate of the Royals. In 2025, leading up to his debut, Cameron had a 3.22 ERA while striking out 27 total batters for Omaha before being called up on Tuesday.
