STEWARTSVILLE, Mo. – Wayne O. Sample Sr., 85, of Stewartsville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, in a St. Joseph hospital. He was born Feb. 3, 1939, in St. Joseph, son of the late Bessie Violet and Truman Sample. He retired from the Union Local 98 as a Union Painter.

Wayne was preceded in death by wife, Loretta June Sample; his parents; brother, Estelle Sample; sisters, Violet J. Springs, and Anita Helton.

Survivors include four children: Cookie Pederson, Stewartsville, Wayne Sample Jr., Dearborn, Missouri, Kathy (Eddie) Leaverton, and Rick Sample, both Stewartsville; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Larry (Mary) Sample, Gower, Missouri, and Ernest (Tammy) Parker, St. Joseph; and his sister, Mercedes Holburt, Branson, Missouri.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Inurnment at the Stewartsville Cemetery at a later date.
