Missouri Department of Transportation launches statewide survey

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) — The Missouri Department of Transportation is asking residents for help with a survey aimed at improving traffic issues statewide.

The department intends to use the information gathered to gain insight into all traffic-related subjects.

“We’re looking to see if things that we heard five years ago are still the priorities for Missouri as far as the future of transportation,” MODOT Deputy Director/Chief Engineer Eric Schroeter said. “We know that things have changed.”

This includes feedback and concerns regarding the long-range transportation plan and state freight and rail plan.

“We have a vital role in the freight world and we have a huge presence in that business in Missouri,” Schroeter said. “We’re working with all of our freight partners to update our freight and rail study.”

The department’s survey will be available on April 30, and the drafts for the plans will be available to the public in 2026.
