Cox, Colt T. 1962-2026 DeKalb, Mo.

DEKALB, Mo. – Colt “Cole” Thornton Cox, 63, DeKalb, Missouri, passed away Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026. He was born April 21, 1962, in Kansas City, Missouri.
Cole played collegiate baseball at Southwestern College in Iowa and then transferred to Missouri Western State College and received his Bachelor of Science degree.
Having tied the knot with his beloved wife, Donna Ilene Weter, on Nov. 10, 1994, Cole and Donna created a loving family. Cole was a pillar of strength and a source of support for his family. His children, Spencer Cox (Karli), Hannah Cox, Jordan Cox, and Schuyler Cox (Haylee), will forever hold dear the values and life lessons imparted by their father. Cole’s adoration for his grandchildren, Mason, Kyse, Amir, Kadin, Rocky, Kaci, Brooks, Cooper, and Canaan, was no secret, as his eyes would light up with pride and joy at each mention of their names.
Cole’s commitment to his faith was exemplified through his membership at Riverside Baptist Church.
The love Cole had for his family was perhaps only matched by the affection he had for his animals.
He was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law, Dorothy Godfrey.
Farewell Services and Public Livestream 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, Riverside Baptist Church. Interment Bethel Cemetery, DeKalb. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Riverside Baptist Church.
