Dotson, Stephen D. 1954-2026 St. Joseph, Mo.

Stephen Douglas Dotson, 71, of St. Joseph, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026. He was born June 10, 1954, in St. Joseph.

He attended McKinley Elementary, Bessie Ellison, and graduated from Central High School in 1972, then attended Missouri Western State College.

He was a member of Wyatt Park Baptist Church and Sons of the American Legion.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Wilton Douglas Dotson and Bertha Eileen (Sparks) Dotson.

Survivors include his sister, Deborah “Debbie” (Doug) Perry, Osborn, Missouri; a nephew, Bryan (Jessica) Perry, Raleigh, North Carolina; two nieces, Beth (John) Hesson, Plattsburg, Missouri and Aimee (Aaron) Ramsey, Osborn; nine great-nieces and nephews, Preston, Grace, Alec, Chloe, Jaxson, Grant, Ethan, Presley, and Gavin.

A Celebration of Steve’s Life was held Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026, at 3 p.m. at Magoons Famous Delicatessen. As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
