Hovey, Alec J. 1938-2026 Cosby, Mo.

COSBY, Mo. – Alec Junior Hovey, 88, of Cosby, Missouri, passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, in St. Joseph. He was born Jan. 4, 1938, in St. Joseph.

Survivors include wife, Jerrie Ann Hovey; children: Michael A. (Judy) Hovey, daughter, Rhonda R. (Randal) Salmons, Jeffrey S. (Jenny) Hovey, and Jody W. (Kristen) Hovey, of Gower, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several brothers and sisters.

The family received friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services and public live stream was 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, at the Rupp Funeral Home, The Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials are requested to the Wounded Warrior project, March of Dimes, or St. Judes Children’s hospital.
