Strobl Jr., Joseph M. 1935-2025 St. Joseph, Mo.

Joseph Marcus Strobl, Jr., 90, St. Joseph, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family, in St. Joseph. Joseph was born Dec. 28, 1935, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Joseph M. and Dorothy (Blanke) Strobl.

Joseph graduated from Affton High School in 1953. He graduated from the University of Missouri (Columbia) in 1957, with a BS Agriculture degree in Dairy Science. After graduation from the University, he served two years in the Army as an Artillery Officer in the 1st Infantry Division, at Ft. Riley, Kansas. He continued to serve in the military, after his release from active duty, in the Army National Guard of South Dakota, Kansas, and Nebraska. He retired from the Nebraska Army National Guard in 1995.

Joseph married Mary Ellen Wall on Jan. 31, 1959, in the Lindenwood College Chapel, in St. Charles, Missouri. Mary Ellen is his best friend and partner for Eternity.

Joseph and his wife returned to his career in the dairy industry after his discharge from active-duty Army service. He retired from the dairy industry after 42 years of service on the local and state level throughout the Midwest.

He was a member of the Lions Club, Food Science International, Missouri State Milk Board, Missouri Milk Food and Environmental Sanitarians, South Dakota Army National Guard, Kansas Army National Guard, Nebraska Army National Guard, Reserve Officers Association, National Rifle Association, American Legion, and was also an Eagle Scout.

He was preceded in death by his parents, but is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen, St. Joseph. He is also survived by daughters, Victoria Sample (Robert), Cosby, Missouri, Dorothy Strobl-Lucas (Aaron), Long Beach, California, and Mary Hanover (Kurt), Raytown, Missouri. He is also survived by grandchildren, Sarah Harris, Kansas City, Missouri, Douglas Sample, Cosby, Marcus Lucas, Los Angeles, California, and Isaac Lucas, Los Angeles; and great-grandchildren, Everett Harris IV, Vivion Harris, and Harvey Harris, Kansas City, Missouri.

During his life, Joseph believed in Love of God, Family, Country, self-reliance and hard work. He will be missed not only by his family, but also by his many friends.

Joseph was always ready to answer the bugle call from Country, Family, or his God. He has answered his last call.

Farewell Services and Public Livestream 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the MS Society or Ashland United Methodist Church.
