One juvenile arrested in connection with Monday shooting of minor in St. Joseph

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) -- One juvenile is recovering in a Kansas City hospital after being struck by gunfire Monday evening during an incident that led to the arrest of one juvenile.

The St. Joseph Police Department provided an update Tuesday to a shots-fired incident that occurred Monday evening, saying that officers initially responded to a report of shots fired around 6 p.m. at a residence in the 3100 block of North 10th Street.

One juvenile of an unknown age was struck by gunfire and taken to Children's Mercy Hospital with non life-threatening injuries, according to a news release from SJPD. The department did not disclose how many times the juvenile may have been struck.

"Officers have since located and taken one juvenile suspect into custody in connection with this incident, The investigation is ongoing," the statement reads.

The department did not provide an age of the juvenile taken into custody.
